What is NetCM?
NetCM is a configuration management product that provides visibility, highlights configuration inconsistencies in parameter configurations and allows for corrections to be made (automated or semi-automated). Once NetCM is integrated to all network nodes, it offers Visibility, Auditing, Control and Automation capabilities across all vendors, technologies and domains.
Integration of NetCM into an MNO
The following diagram shows the integration points of NetCM in a Mobile Network Operator. The data is collected from the live network via MML or XML, and from other 3rd party tools (such as planning tools) via XML, csv, API or a direct database connection. This data is used to create a “Digital Twin” of the network nodes.
This data is then analysed to determine any mismatches or inconsistencies in the configuration of the network. Network configuration audits can be conducted quickly and in a repeatable manner, which ensures that any incorrect configuration of the network, can be quickly rectified, minimising the impact on the subscribers.
NetCM Key Features
Single depository for all Live and Planned Network Configuration data
Vendor, Technology and Domain independent
Automatic detection of Live and Planned Configuration discrepancies
Dashboards and emails for quick access to key configuration issues
Automatic MML/XML generation, control of scheduling and implementation ensuring adherence to change control processes
Powerful policy management to ensure parameter baselines and golden sets of parameters are adhered to
Configuration activity management with business rule considerations
Connectivity to external tools and 3rd party databases such as Planning tools
NPA – Network Parameter Audits
With our NPA services, Digitata Networks is able to provide independent, repeatable audits of the configuration of a network in a cost effective manner. The NetCM platform is used to identify issues with the configuration of the network, and highlight any parameters which do not conform to OEM best practices or operator specific policies or baselines. These issues are then viewable in a dashboard, or provided in an excel document for use by engineers to optimise the network.
Group Solution for Multiple OPCOs
Digitata Networks Group Dashboard provides a way for the different OpCo’s within a Group to have their configuration health index compared with one another.
- Different configuration errors are identified within the network and assigned a severity based on their impact on network performance. (Critical, Major, Minor)
- A penalty is then calculated taking into consideration the number of errors as well as the severity.
- This penalty is then normalised based on the number of cells in the network.
- This allows for networks of different sizes to be compared with one another.
